We believe communication is a right, not a privilege.

Whether you're here to learn, collaborate, or find community, you're in the right place.

AAC stands for augmentative
and alternative communication.

This means all the ways people can communicate that does not include speech. When someone cannot speak or their speech is insufficient to meet their needs, they may benefit from AAC.

Our Mission

Our mission at #TalkingAAC is to get more people talking about AAC and talking with AAC.

We believe that communication is a human right; one that is currently denied to many. Our goal is to break down barriers to communication by providing knowledge, skills, and shared personal experience with AAC.

What started as a small group of assistive technology (AT) professionals in 2014 has grown into a statewide community of passionate advocates.

Today, our team spans all corners of Michigan, with board members who are actively engaged in AT and AAC work within school districts. As a dedicated, all-volunteer working board, we are committed to empowering communication and learning for all.

Each year, we welcome an eager and growing audience—professionals, families, and individuals passionate about AAC—who have transformed from attendees into a true learning community.
