Each conference day will open with a keynote speaker and then participants choose 75-minute break-out sessions on a variety of topics. We will have four strands that run concurrently, allowing participants to pick the session that best meets their needs. These strands include:
Access to AAC: This strand focuses on topics related to physical access of equipment, positioning, and organization to support alternative access to AAC systems (e.g. scanning).
Literacy & AAC:#TalkingAAC has an ongoing focus on topics related to literacy and AAC: the inherent relationship between language learning and literacy; repeat introductory sessions and extend learning through other focused topics.
AAC Mindset: This strand features topics related to: communication autonomy as a mindset, building capacity within organizations, systematic training and implementation, and using a coaching model.
Day in the Life with AAC:Presenters are invited to share what a day in their classroom/therapy room/home looks like. We ask that presenters include how they incorporate each of the following foundational AAC topics into their day: core vocabulary, aided language input, and inclusion/diversity/representation (whenever possible).
