Laura Begley

BOARD MEMBER - Executive Board Secretary

Laura Begley

Professional Background
I serve on the board of #TalkingAAC, but by day, I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist turned Assistive Technology (AT) Consultant for Wayne RESA. In this role, I get to geek out over all things AT while supporting students across Wayne County in finding their voice — literally. I also provide professional learning for staff and families, spreading the good word about AAC and assistive tech. Before this, I was in the trenches at center-based public schools, working with students with a range of disabilities while supporting their communication needs, AAC very much included.

Passion for AAC
I’m deeply passionate about ensuring all students have access to a functional and meaningful voice. I am especially dedicated to supporting students who are minimally or non-speaking, as I believe they are among the most vulnerable and deserve strong advocates. My mission? To amplify their voices, share what they teach me, and lead with love, joy, and a bit of flair in everything I do.

Fun Fact
I call Novi, MI home, where I live with my husband Eric, our two boys, Tyler and Theodore, and our wild little zoo of pets. I’m fueled by coffee, tacos, cookies, and ice cream — basically anything that belongs on a “Treat Yourself” list. I love game nights, family travel, and collecting PEZ dispensers (yep, I’ve got over 700 of them!). Do people call me extra? Absolutely.
