Professional Background
I am an Assistive Technology and Augmentative Alternative Communication Consultant for Wayne RESA. My background is in Speech Language Pathology, and I’m a proud graduate of Eastern Michigan University.

I spend my days as part detective, part coach, and part tech whisperer—helping people find their voices. One minute I’m matching a student with the right AAC system, the next I’m modeling how to use it, cheering on communication wins, or convincing a device to cooperate.

I collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to make sure tools actually work in real life—not just on paper. Along the way, I like to sneak in a little advocacy wherever I can. Every day looks different, but the goal is always the same: helping people communicate what matters most.

Passion for AAC
While working as an SLP, I found myself drawn more and more to the students whose communication needs weren’t fully met by traditional approaches—those who needed something different, something more. AAC opened the door to that “something more,” showing me just how powerful it is when we presume competence and provide the right supports for expression. I became passionate about AAC because it shifts the focus from limitations to possibilities, allowing individuals to share their thoughts, personalities, and identities in ways that might otherwise go unheard. What started as part of my practice quickly became a focus, as I saw firsthand how access to a robust communication system can transform not just communication but connection, autonomy, and quality of life.

Fun Fact
I am a husband and a father of four amazing kids. I grew up in Ireland and went to college in both Ireland and England before moving to Michigan as a 23 year old. I love to listen to music and would gladly spend all my money attending concerts. I enjoy being outdoors and especially love days spent running on the Potawatomi Trail near Pinckney, MI. If I could do anything else with my life, I’d love to be a Middle School Cross Country coach - maybe that’ll keep me occupied when I eventually retire.
