Professional Background
For the last twenty years, I’ve worked in school settings (from Texas to Missouri and home to Michigan), both as a Speech-Language Pathologist and now as an Assistive Technology Consultant. A focus of mine is to create learning opportunities where every student can thrive. I love working directly with learners and their support teams to find creative ways to remove barriers so they can connect with their schoolwork and with each other.
Passion for AAC
My passion for this work is constantly inspired by the people who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and by those learning to use it. It’s all about connecting as humans - that’s the power of AAC - providing the language in a way that allows each individual to be seen, heard, and respected.
Fun Fact
I am a mom to two, a bonus mom to two, a dog mom to two, and a partner to one. We are in the chapter of life where we find ourselves on the sidelines of baseball fields, track meets, wrestling meets, dance recitals, and football games and loving every minute of it (except when the brutal Michigan weather decides to make an appearance). I am finding a new passion in gardening and watching my flowers and plants grow from seeds (does this mean bird-watching comes next?). Fun Fact: During my college career, I spent two summers in London where I engaged in focused studies on innovative approaches to supporting individuals with communication disabilities.
