Professional Background

My career has always centered around children — from community development work focused on alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention to child abuse prevention. When my husband and I welcomed three daughters, my passion for supporting kids shifted toward caring for our own and the many others who came into our lives through church, school, and sports. My husband likes to joke that I use my social work degree and public policy master’s every single day as we navigate parenting and life together.

Passion for AAC

This position with #TalkingAAC was my introduction into the world of AAC. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from, learning about, and learning with this incredible community.

Fun Fact

I’m a farm girl from southern Illinois who fell in love with Michigan summers — and after 28 years, I’m still getting used to Michigan winters. I adore spending time with my sweet husband and our three adult daughters. When we’re together, you’ll usually find us at the lake, traveling, or playing copious amounts of card games.
