Professional Background
I am a speech-language pathologist with a specialization in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I spent 15 years working in public school settings in both Chicago, IL, and Grand Rapids, MI, where I developed a deep appreciation for the impact of AAC on student success. Recently, I made the decision to step away from the school setting to explore new opportunities within the field of AAC. I am a lifelong learner, always eager to grow, adapt, and expand my knowledge—especially when it comes to supporting individuals through innovative AAC solutions.
Passion for AAC
My passion for AAC began on the first day of my clinical experience in graduate school. I met a young man whose sarcasm and humor shone through as he communicated using his AAC system. Through that connection, I was able to see him for who he truly was—not defined by his disability, but by his personality and voice. Since that moment, my passion for AAC has been fueled by the power of connection and the joy that comes from meaningful communication.
Fun Fact
I’m a New England girl at heart, having grown up in New Hampshire before making my way to Chicago and eventually landing in Michigan, which I now proudly call home. My family—consisting of my husband, our son, and our energetic black Labrador—is always up for a new adventure. We love to travel, explore new places, and make memories together wherever we go. Whether it’s a weekend road trip or a bigger journey, we’re happiest when we’re discovering something new as a family.
